Exclusive Interview: Owner of Mauritanian Shipping Company Directly Oversees Recruitment of Indonesian Seafarers by PT. Power Java Indo
March 14, 2025 – PT. Power Java Indo, a specialized manpower services provider in the field of international shipping, received a special visit from the owner of a Mauritanian fishing vessel company, Mr. Alhassan Oumar. This visit was part of exploratory discussions and efforts to strengthen cooperation in the recruitment and placement of Indonesian seafarers (ABK) to work on foreign fishing vessels managed by his company.
During the warm and productive official meeting, Mr. Alhassan expressed his admiration for the quality and professionalism of Indonesia’s maritime workforce. He noted that Indonesian seafarers are known for their strong technical skills, disciplined work ethic, and ability to adapt to international work systems, particularly in the demanding physical and mental environment of open-sea operations.
He also stated that PT. Power Java Indo is a trusted partner with a transparent recruitment system, orderly administrative processes, and comprehensive support from initial selection to placement on board the vessel. This collaboration is expected to enhance maritime workforce standards and ensure the fulfillment of foreign vessel companies’ needs for competent and legally compliant labor.
As part of its long-term commitment, Mauritania is also considering opening additional training and provisioning programs for prospective Indonesian seafarers before they depart. This is part of efforts to increase capacity and protect workers during their contract period.
This visit is a positive sign of the growing international confidence in the quality of Indonesian seafarers, while also marking the beginning of strategic cooperation between PT. Power Java Indo and Mauritanian fishing companies in advancing the global shipping sector based on professional labor from Indonesia.
